Jaswinder Ahuja
Cadence â India
Jaswinder S. Ahuja is a Corporate Vice President and the Managing Director of Cadence Design Systems in India. He started his career with Cadence in 1988 as a software engineer and has led the India operations since 1996. Under his leadership Cadenceâs India presence has grown from an R&D site of around 120 employees to Cadenceâs largest international operation with over 2,200 employees across R&D, Corporate IT support, Global Customer Care and Field Operations.
From 2002 to 2004 Jaswinder was based at Cadence headquarters in San Jose, California and was responsible for establishing and leading the Strategic R&D Partnerships and the R&D Central Operations functions for the company. From 2003 to 2008 he was responsible for the R&D Globalization Program and establishing R&D centers in Russia, China and Taiwan in addition to India.
Jaswinder is a founding member of the VLSI Society of India (VSI) and has served as its President from 2011 to 2018. He is a founder member of the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) and has served as itsâ Chairman in 2008-09. Jaswinder is on the board of Electropreneur Park (EP) in Delhi and Bhubaneshwar, first of their kind Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) incubators in India supported by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY). Jaswinder is a member of the Governing Council of Software Technology Parks of India (STPI). He is also on the Advisory Board of FabCI, a Fabless Chip Incubator, at IIT-Hyderabad. Jaswinder is a mentor to several entrepreneurs and has served on the board of advisors for several start-ups.
Jaswinder holds a B.Tech in Electronics Engineering from IIT-BHU, Varanasi, an MS in Computer Engineering from Northeastern University, Boston, USA and an Executive MBA from Stanford University, USA.
He was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award by the VLSI Society of India in January 2018 to acknowledge his leadership and many noteworthy contributions to the semiconductor ecosystem in India. He has received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from IIT-BHU and is a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, USA.
